June 2019 583. Jen H. 584. Gary and Rhonda H. 585. Kathi E.

June 26th 2019
We missed several of you for various reasons last night but it was a very good and busy night.  We now have 20 quilts that are all finished plus 8 that are pinned and ready to be quilted….plus several that are in the making.  How wonderful it is to have a supply so that when names come up for a quilt we can just go in and pick.  Ladies we have come a long ways in the last years.
Last night we did quilts for
583.  Jennifer Hollingsworth….Jennifer’s mother just died suddenly…….she was not a believer….pray for peace and comfort for Jennifer as she is going through a hard time…..

584.   Gary and Rhonda Habeger……..their beautiful 6 month old grandson died suddenly at their home…

585.   Kathi Eisenbeis…Kathi has Parkinson’s…she has started a support group for those in the area who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s……pray for Kathi as she reaches out to help those that are ill and as she deals with her own illness.

Thank you Mary K. and Maria for the treats.  I even got some leftovers but I did not eat them for breakfast.
Our next quilt night will be July 9th.   It is our regular night.  Mark your calendars for each 2ndand 4th Tuesdays of the month except for December.  We only meet once in Dec. to have our party…..no sewing that month.  Our year is half gone already.
Thank you each one of you for your faithfulness to our mission.  It is wonderful.  We can’t all be together each time but may we continue to pray for each other.  We are sisters in Christ.  We have a wonderful time even when I have to crack the whip.  May what we do truly be from our hearts.  I don’t always hear of special needs so be sure to let me know if someone has been forgotten.
I truly love you all.  You are my JOY.

We all have good reasons to get grouchy: discouraging news, everyday stresses, health problems.  Nevertheless, God can give us a JOY that transcends these conditions if we ask Him.  We can have what Jesus called, “MY JOY” (John 15:11).                                                   Taken from Our Daily Bread devotional

PS:  Here is the recipe of the cake some of you asked for.  The cake I brought to the women’s potluck
DO NOTHING CAKE
2 cups flour, 2 tsp. baking soda, 2 cups sugar, 2 eggs, ½ tsp. vanilla, 20 oz. crushed pineapple with juice
Dump it all in a bowl and mix.  Put in greased 9x13 pan.  Bake at 350 for 35-40 min.
Frosting
Cook over med. Heat until a little thickened about 5-6 min. 1 stick butter, ¾ cup evaporated mile and 1 cup sugar then add 1 cup chopped nuts, 1 cup shredded coconut and 1 tsp. vanilla.
Pour hot frosting over hot cake which has been poked by a fork.

How can you slow down and notice the work of God’s hands right now?
How can you encourage others to do the same?

If we stop, look, and listen, we’ll see creation declaring God’s glory.
