December 10, 2019. Christmas PARTY!!

Annual Christmas Party
We always get to have a Christmas Party!  That means no sewing (work!) but just fun and fellowship and lots of great food to share.  We usually give Joyce a gift card; this year she requested something different.  She asked us each to choose a fabric we thought represented ourself.  Then we played a game, to see who could match the fabric to the person who brought it.  Lots of fun!
Karen was the winner!  Thanks to Joyce for the beautiful Christmas table runner! And the fat quarters from Marci!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

December 3, 2019. A Christmas Celebration: Our Worth in Christ

Stephanie invited us to attend the annual lady’s Christmas event at her Dad’s (Mark Dixon) church in rural Salem.  We were served an amazing dinner, had great fellowship, listened to awesome music and heard Lauren Eberspacher talk about “the Soul felt it’s worth”.
Of course Marci H had to get a photo!  (Thanks Marci!)

God's Masterpiece

November 14, 2019
Good morning ladies and the sun is shinning.
This is part of the devotions that I read last night.
We are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
You are a masterpiece, not like the Mona Lisa, which hangs in a museum behind bulletproof glass, beyond the potentially damaging touch of dirty hands.  You are like a Stradivarius violin, whose true beauty and value is seen and experienced in its usefulness__especially when it is used by a master.  Being used by the master in this hurting world is thrilling.  The reason it feels so good to offer food to those who are hungry, a coat to those who are cold, companionship to those who are lonely, a home to a child who is alone, a quilt to warm many hearts (added by Joyce), is because this is what you were made for.  This is the beauty of the Master Jesus using your life.
I thought this really tied in with our mission.  There are so many needs and hurting people and as we draw close to another Christmas may we keep an eye out for those we can warm with our hearts and quilts.

Our next quilting night is Nov. 12th.  Only 2 more working nights in 2019.  Time flies when you are having fun.
Ladies don’t forget when you are near a fabric store to pick out a fabric that you really like to bring to the Christmas party.  We have used over 700 yards of fabric in the last year….pretty amazing.
Don’t forget ladies that each one of you are very important…….it takes each task to put a quilt together.  Thank you for continuing to keep this a mission.  I think that 2020 will even be a bigger year so keep marking your calendars for the quilting nights.
Congratulations Amy M.  We are all very excited and happy for you.
Love you all,
Joyce

Depends how thin you cut it.
How much good inside a day?

We only have three quilting nights left in 2019.  My how the time flies by.  We won’t quilt in Dec.  We will just party and if need be pray for someone who needs a quilt.  Don’t forget to look for that special piece of fabric for our Christmas party.
You all make a difference in my life…..it gives me special reason to CHOOSE JOY.
Love, Joyce
There are loyal hearts, there are spirits brave, there are souls that are pure and true.
Then give to the world the best you have, and the best shall come back to you.
Give love, and love to your heart will flow, a strength in your utmost need;
Have faith in your word and deed, for life is the mirror of king and slave.
Tis just what you are and do; than give to the world the best you have.
And the best will come back to you.

September 24, 2019. Law Enforcement night; #612-638

Good morning ladies on another nice fall day.
Last night was another good and busy night.  It was a different schedule.  Many quilts were pinned and then time was spent on getting the quilts ready for the policemen.  Quilts and thank you cards were given to each one on our police force.  Three men came to accept our gift of quilts…..Deputy Micah Hofman, Sgt. Dan Wyatt, and Sgt. Isaac Kurtz accepted the 24 quilts that we had made.  Micah and Isaac had received one earlier.    Micah and Isaac stayed for treats and shared some of their experiences.
We had a time of prayer for the police force.  We also made one for Derek, the man who pulled my car out onto the street……we all need second chances.   Pray for Derek that his life may be changed.
In May we made a quilt and prayed for Melanie Weiss.  Melanie is an optometrist in Watertown who became addicted to painkillers following several surgeries.  Melanie is now sharing her very painful story to help others.  She will be speaking at the high school on Oct. 9th.  It would be great if several of us could attend and personally hear her story.  I think it is at 7:00.  I’m sure it will be in the Daily Leader.
Thanks to each one of you for your support and help in our mission.  May we continue to make a little difference in many lives.  God is good.
Love you all, Joyce

This was on the tag of the tee shirts that Deann gave us from Thrivent…….I thought it was so good:
Life’s not about having more.  It’s about doing more with what you have.
