June 24 2020
Good morning ladies on a beautiful summer day.
There were only five of us last night so I really had to crack the whip.  Thanks Nate for helping out.

 693.  On Sunday we gave Paul (the drummer) a quilt.  What a joy it was to have his young friends tie and pray for his quilt….Noah, Ishara, and Nate.  Paul was leaving for his home in AK yesterday.

Last night we prayed for seven quilts.  …

        694.

695. for Corrin Gillespie…Corrin graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls this year.  She is a dancer and noticed pain in her lower leg……went to Mayo and found out she had cancer and had to have her leg amputated below the knee….in the meantime she got the virus.  She is home now in Sioux Falls after her surgery.

We prayed for four high school graduates…

696.Eric Nelson

697.Taiya Coomes

        698. Anna Vonkeman

        699. AJ Peters.

Continue to pray for these young people as they go on to the next step in their lives………

and now for number 700…that goes to Cecelia.  Cecelia is the 2 year old foster child that Stephanie is caring for.
Pray that the Schubert’s may soon be united in the same home.

Thank you ladies for making it possible to limp along with our prayer quilts.  There are  many complications now with summer activities and that virus.  Soon we hope to meet again…….now that we are at 700 we need to  celebrate the fact that we are still going and that we can put joy into many lives.
Take care but don’t be fearful.  God is good.
Love you all,
Joyce
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

June 9 2020. 692. Shelly

It was a quiet quilt night……just Marian and me.  Marian sewed and I pinned.  We quit early…..Amy and Cora came after we quit.  Cora picked out a quilt for her boyfriend’s mother who has terminal cancer.  Amy, Cora, & I tied the quilt and prayed for Shelly.  We need to pray for this young couple, Cora & Noah, as they go through this hard time.

Pray for the Slaughter family as they say their goodbye’s to Dale….for the Bishop’s as they move to their new home……for Holly as she drives across the country alone from Colorado……Holly is with her sister who just had a baby girl.  Each one of us carried a burden of some kind…..may we pray for each other.
We will try to meet again June 25th.  It just will take time to get back to some kind of normal.  We do need to get the quilts out to the graduates and a few others.  We just will take one day at a time because that is just the way it is.
Love to all of you.
Joyce

If you are feeling sad and let down just turn off the media and go outside and look at God’s Creation.  We are so fortunate.  Reach out to someone who needs some joy in their lives.

We will meet again on June 9th.   Gradually we hope to get together.  Stay safe and continue to use wisdom each day.  Each one of us needs to make the decision of how to stay safe.  We will always remember this year but I think we need to also remember the blessings of the year.  We are so fortunate that it is spring and we can enjoy the out of doors.

‘till we meet again and I hope soon remember that God loves you and so do I.

April 27, 2020 A Letter from Joyce

GOOD AFTERNOON

Good afternoon ladies.  What a beautiful day.
I just thought I needed to pop in and tell you how much I miss each one of you and how much I appreciate each one of you.  Sometime soon I think we will be able to meet together.  We probably won’t get much done on the quilts the first time.  We just need time to catch up with one another.

Some of us enjoyed our Zoom night together on April 28th.  Our next Zoom night is May 12th at 7:15-8:15.  Put that on your calendar.

Many of you have helped to continue to make quilts.  Yesterday I counted….we have 20 quilts that are all done…. 16 that are done and just need the ties….6 are out getting the binding sewed…..8 need pinning….and 6 are in the process of sewing……total is 56 quilts….amazing.  I was hoping for around 56 so we got there.  We have around 16 on our list to give quilts to so we will be busy for the summer.  I was hoping that by fall that we could give to the firemen.  With your continued faithfulness that will be possible.

Remember  no matter what you do to make our Prayer Quilts a continued mission……….EVERY step is important…….but most of all the prayers……may we continue to pray for one another.

God loves you and so do I.
Joyce

April 7 2020. More Covid19 news..

As we are unable to gather to quilt together we decided to do a Zoom meeting; some of us old gals had a bit of a challenge but were able to make it work!  So good to see your faces, hear your laughs and comments (even though everyone wanted to talk at the same time!

Decided to make it a recurring event until we can finally get back together and back to work!

Joyce is still working hard to supply the hospital and health care workers with masks; and now isolation gowns!  Someday she will run out of supplies (elastic, bias tape, fabric...) but she will never run out of energy!
Bless you all my quilting friends!

March 25 2020. Corona Virus

Thanks to those of you who have helped out with the surgical masks and those who have taken home work.  It is a great project that we can help out with.  If anyone wants to stop by and get some of the supplies that I have ready it would be great.
Hope that each one of you is doing fine.  God is good we just need to do what is right at this time.  We are making history……we thought 2019 was history but just look at today.
Put JOY in your day.
Love, Joyce

70 masks were delivered to Valiant Living on April 2 2020:

You missed the Iron Woman’s delicious dessert.
Next quilt night is March 24th.
I want each one of you ladies to know how special you are to me.  You have been my support over the last eight years.  My dear husband, Jim, went on to a better place on this date.  I love each one of you from the ones that help to start this group to all the ones that have joined over the years.  I pray that our mission may continue.  May we give a bit of cheer to many people.
Love, Joyce
