Reggie and DaNeil Olson
Reggie and DaNeil are friends of Joyce and Marion. He has recently been diagnosed
with bladder cancer and faces surgery and chemotherapy. They are relying on the Lord for
strength in all that happens on this journey. Pray for strength, patience, reliance on Jesus and for
complete healing.
Reginald “Reggie” Olson, age 63, died at his home under the care of Madison Hospice on March 5, 2014. He was born on June 19, 1950 at Madison to Orland and Shirlee (King) Olson. He married DaNeil Pearson on April 28, 1973 at Center, SD. He is survived by his wife - DaNeil of Nunda. One son - Dustin of Sioux Falls. Three daughters - Kelli (William) Moffitt of Sioux Falls, Amber (Toby) Bryant of Hartford, BreeAna Olson of Nunda, SD. Six grandchildren, Tevan Bryant, Dessa Bryant, Brogan Moffitt, Autumn Bryant, Beckett Moffitt and Hadley Bryant. His mother - Shirlee Olson of Nunda, two brothers - Randy (Celene) of Sioux Falls and Jim of Edina, MN. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Calvary Free Lutheran church in Arlington with Rev Brian Ricke officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Park Cemetery, Rutland, SD. He grew up on a farm by Nunda. He graduated from Rutland High School in 1968. He attended General Beadle State College (DSU) before joining the US Army where he served in Italy. After the service he returned to farming with his dad. He refereed high school basketball and football for 40 years which included three state football championship games. He was a member of the Great Pretenders Singing Quartet for 20 years singing at state and county fairs and churches throughout the area. He played fast pitch softball, served on the Lake Park Cemetery Board and Summit Township Board. He also served as board President at Calvary Free Lutheran Church. He was recently awarded the Doug Koester Award from the High School Officials Association for his contributions to high school sports and his community. He was instrumental in organizing the Mike Entringer Basketball Classic and Scholarship in honor of his friend and referee partner. He was also the Athletic Director for Rutland School District and a member of the Nunda American Legion. The family will be present at 5:00 PM on Friday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.

-God's comfort to others who suffer in whatever trials they are facing (II Corinthians 1:3-8)
-praise for the peace that passes all understanding that only comes through knowing Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)
-a closer walk with the Lord (Hebrews 11:1)
-praise for our prayer warriors (Colossians 1:3&4)
-praise for the assurance of salvation and the joyful expectation of eternal worship at the feet of Jesus (I John 5:13)(Revelations 21:1-4)
-unsaved friends and family members (III John 4)
-pointing others to God's saving grace through Jesus's shed blood and His resurrection (John 14:6)
-reaching out to others in need (II Corinthians 1:3-8)
-comfort for our kids & grandkids, our moms, brothers & sisters, friends
-strength for each day of travel to and from various doctor appointments and treatments
-wisdom for doctors and nurses in choosing treatment, and blessings to them for their compassion
-blessings to those who have graciously given us prayer, physical, spiritual, and financial support
-a clear witness of our total dependence on God (Matthew 12:18-23)
-restful nights and productive days (Matthew 7:7)
-that we are wise stewards as God provides our 'daily bread' according to our needs (Matthew6:25-33, and especially verse 34)
-blessings for Joyce, Joy, Betty, and the rest of the quilting angels
-a miraculous healing! - according to Your will, Jesus. (1 Peter 5:6-11)
